Promotion is an important step in a young Dvergar's life. Until now he has been learning our ways and growing in skill. Between 24 and 34, the gundosh will begin the process of committing to the clan. The first thing a gundosh must do is select a family name. The family name is freely selected from the ancient scrolls of Dvergar lore. At the testing, the gundosh will share a tale about the ancestor with those gathered.
Sample story: The gundosh could tell in simple words how his ancestor was eaten by a giant and klomp'd his way out from his stomach and then drank the giant's ale.
The story can be brief like a statement or more elaborate. It can be outrageous and of epic proportions (this will win many points with the listeners) or down to earth. This is entirely up to the gundosh.
Having announced their ancestor's name, they will be tested by a Gundnob. The test is a series of questions meant to determine if the gundosh has learned everything needed to make his oath to the clan and be able to keep it.
A few topics to be covered will be:
If the Gundnob passes the gundosh, the gundosh will proclaim a mighty oath in /as. It is ancient tradition for a gundosh to stand upon the throne of Dvalin and touch Motsognir's hammer while proclaiming his oath.
He'll make the oath in his own words and then be promoted in rank.
Sample oath:
Gundosh steps up on throne.
/emote places hand on Buurzwomp
/as Mih Globguni <last name> swayr on da Buurzwomp ob Motsognir dat mih will klomp da inimis ob da klan agh difind da body ob Ymir wif all mih strinth agh inirgy. Mih promis nivur tu lyv da klan agh tu follow all da laws ob da klan.
